i found this on a different website and thought it was hilarious. mainly because we had all these ‘motivator’ pictures hanging in the office where i worked for a few years in birmingham. (that place is why ‘the office’ is hysterical to me…the blogger who posted this on his website actually said it made him think of something on the show.) these pictures never really did inspire me much.
sometimes the only thing that makes me go to bed at night is the fact that i have to get up in the morning. sleep is wonderful, but i wish it didn’t take so much time. i am in cullman right now. heading to the beach tomorrow to hang out with my family. it’s my dad’s bday. the 4 of us children pitched in and bought him an ipod shuffle. (i hope he’s not reading this…there goes the surprise!) he gardens a lot. he may not have them anymore but previously used these big headphones for music. hopefully he’ll like it. i’ve been downloading music on it for the past 4 hours. his windows is not updated to get itunes. oh gee, that’s too bad b/c i had to load about 12 of his cd’s on my itunes. love it! but now i’m wondering how he’s going to charge the thing. anyway, the end result…..i have lots of new music. yay!
i’m taking some portraits down at the beach, so i brought all my camera stuff along with my laptop. i had an interesting thought when i left nashville. everything i had with me is all that i need. very simple. the few ‘home’ items i own are stored in boxes since living with christi. money shmoney. if i had the money, how fun to just drive and drive. i’d go west first…all the way to the coast. and then head north. at the very northern western point i would head east…and go all the way to the other side on the east coast. and then i’d get in a plane and head to europe and do the same thing there. and then i would have my book published (from the whole experience) with the most marvelous pictures imaginable. there you go.
i was walking down the hallway here at my new home thanking God that i don’t have to worry about bugs. mainly b/c this place is so new and b/c i live on the 4th floor…way high up above all those rodents. so it wasn’t two days later that lauren, sandy and i were watching tv. i looked up above lauren’s head and saw the most gigantic roach i’ve ever seen. seriously…it took us a minute to decide that it was not a rat. it had wings. so of course, we all run into a corner by the chair like we had no other place to go…and waited. he crawled up and was upside down on the ceiling without much grip. when he fell and took flight, all heck broke loose. it was hilarious. i was literally in tears from laughing so hard…well, and from fear that this thing would land on me. he landed on a side wall instead. without taking our eyes off him, i called cynthia to get brett’s number who lives on my floor. he didn’t answer. i called accalia downstairs and asked if she killed bugs. she didn’t. i asked if she’d call mike. he doesn’t kill bugs either. so she called chandler on the 3rd floor who came and saved the day with my shoe. i have killed many a roach, but i’m telling you…this would have been like killing a rat with a shoe. i seriously admire chandler for saving our lives. it could have been bad.
so it’s been a while since blogging. sometimes i have the reid attitude of what’s the point. and then i start to see clearly and realize how many people want to know about my life. har har. anyway, here are a few things going on with me at the moment:
*this summer i will have more bathing suit choices than any prior summer…that would be 4. no, it’s not many. but i hardly ever go with more than 1-2 simply b/c i seem to have issues finding one i like. so i’ve been in a bathing suit extravaganza at target lately.
*last weekend when laura gail was here we had ‘project runway’ and went through my entire wardrobe. i am tossing (consigning) about 10 pairs of shoes and half my closet. i don’t wear the stuff, and i don’t like it. i’m starting over completely. since then i have 5 new pairs of shoes (4 from target, 1 pair of winter boots on sale at nine west for $15.) i’m building a base that i actually like this time…not b/c stuff is on sale.
*my family played croquet this weekend, and i lost every game. well, i came in 2nd to last on one, i think. this is actually a lot of fun to play with a bunch of people. next time we are all going to wear all white and big hats. then at 5pm, we will change into all khaki. the staff on the yacht are only allowed to wear black and white.
*christi and i just watched ‘notes on a scandal’. i had no expectations of this movie. therefore, i was not disappointed…only a bit disturbed with some scenes. for the most part, i thought it was a good movie with good acting. the crazy singer guy from love actually was in it, and that was pretty hilarious to think about. i like him. he didn’t play a funny part though.
*i’m going to the beach with my family for memorial day. hopefully i will wear a different bathing suit for each day i’m there. yay!
*something that bothers me: everytime i see someone on one of those crotch rocket motorcycles, they are going faster than the speed of light. there must be something behind this. i really wish they would stop that and slow down a bit. it’s ridiculous.
*i’ve recently discovered that i really like these words: corridor, montage, fetch
i rarely use any other dishes besides bowls and spoons. (i eat A LOT of cereal.) about 7-8 years ago, i guess, i purchased a set of 10 perfect bowls from sam’s for about $10. they are all different colors, pretty small but very deep. i think i have 7 of them left now from moving so much, etc… so i use these for cereal. by the time i go through all of my bowls and spoons, the dishwasher is nowhere near being full. well, the top is full of coffee cups (the other dishes i use.) anyway, i will use them all up. and then on the last bowl and spoon, i will use the same one for about 3 days in a row. i just think that is hysterical. why not use the first 5 more than one time? i don’t know. but it’s always the last, and i’ll do it more than i should. all in the name of not running an empty dishwasher! like that’s a big deal. anyway……
