good morning friends. i’m sitting here drinking my favorite cup of coffee not wanting to get ready. i’m just not too fond of the actual process, and most days i prolong it until the last possible second. i have 22 minutes right now. i don’t have much to say but i wanted to write. so here are some random thoughts:
*i’m going to the beach again on saturday. my friend, kelly, asked if i wanted to ride down to see our other friend’s baby recently born. sure!
*my taxes came back, and i am purchasing a macbook pro tomorrow. oh yes, the time has come after many months. (reid, we must have a showdown.) and finally i will have a video editing program that actually works, b/c they are offering final cut express for $99. i am truly ecstactic.
*the season has arrived to purchase my easter frock (as my aunt says.) you know…the outfit you wear on easter. i don’t want to wear something i already have…i mean…who does that??
*my lease is up in exactly one month. so weird to be moving again. i will have lived here for a year already.
*went to the parthenon for the 1st time the other day. i’m very glad i did. such a neat place with galleries of photos and artwork. and also this big gold statue of athena on the top floor…which, in my opinion, is kind of a waste of space but oh well. no one asked me.
*does anyone need a hp laptop? cause i’m going to sell mine!
hope you have a mahvelous day! i now have about 9 minutes left.
last night i traveled to cullman as a stopping point in order to continue on to bham this morning. when i turned off the interstate, i drove for a mile or so on hwy 278 straight through TEN green lights without having to stop one single time. my mom calls this catching a wave. pretty exciting.
also, my sunglasses broke. i bought them for $5 in nyc (chinatown) back in september. i’d say they had a good life. pretty sad about this although i can still wear them…the lens falls out. they are too big for my face though. after wearing them an extended period, they leave imprints on my cheek! haha.
this past weekend i made a trip down to the beach, and it was simply lovely. my main purpose was to take advantage of being completely alone. recently, i’ve been considering moving down there (yes, again.) i wanted to get a real feel for what it would be like to live at the house by myself. well-o-well, i didn’t like it much really. sounds crazy, i know. everyone keeps saying ‘oh, i’d jump at that opportunity’ and ‘oh, how much fun.’ but the beach atmosphere just makes me lazy. i don’t think it’d be a good idea.
for some reason, i have this eagerness to basically get the heck out of dodge…well, not really dodge but nashville. some big desire to not stay in one place right now. i want to do many things and even live in different cities. and i want to do the main thing i love so much – photography – and get paid for it. there’s a problem though. i keep gravitating towards the easiest and quickest way to go about it. i mean…wouldn’t you? of course. going back to school for this is not necessary and goes against my one HUGE goal that i have had for the last 2 years…
paying off my debt. therefore, i have now realized (finally) that it is wise to stay right where i am and push on through. no car payment…very soon, my rent/utilities will almost diminish. i will be able to pay this debt off within months…but only if i stay committed and not forget the main goal. imagine — a life with no debt, no car payment, no lease. after my credit card is paid off, i will only be required to pay health insurance, car insurance and taxes. nothing to tie me down to a job that i have strictly to pay my bills. freedom in the most wonderful way. i can hardly wait! i’ll let you know when i get there.
i just met the deuce’s aunt! i was in target and the same lady that usually checks me out was checking me out. she’s older and always wears this knit red wrap thing in her hair. i had on an alabama t-shirt and she asked me where i was from in alabama. so i told her cullman/birmingham. she’s originally from birmingham (avondale) but hasn’t been there since 1992. she said her nephew played for the crimson tide — oh yea, david palmer! i basically yelled THE DEUCE!! she said jersey #2. she hasn’t been to AL since the national championship. and i was so excited…i went to the nat’l championship too! anyway, just thought that was funny. the deuce’s aunt. she used to change his father’s diapers.
i have a new hobby for the next 18 days. it’s called my BRACKET (a.k.a. new best friend), and i love it! i don’t watch basketball, but people at my work filled out those brackets for march madness…you know, picking each game, etc… so i guessed at all of them. of course giving some underdogs a few upsets. all day long i have enjoyed watching this and marking off my games. i’m doing very well so far also (11 wins, 5 loses.) we’ll see. i have OHIO as the champion up against WISCONSIN in the end.
wow…lots of questions and thoughts of your own. here are some responses in order of appearance.
*i don’t like the straws, b/c you can’t chew on them. they kind of taste bad. they are paper and not very durable…a bit flaky. they have to be replaced in your drink after a long period of time. and i keep drinks for hours, so that doesn’t work well for me.
*one of my high school friends that lives down in foley is having a baby tomorrow…so no, you don’t know her tracie.
*that’s great about tom…who is his fiance?
*yes, ashley…ted’s montana grill! i went there b/c i loved eating at the restaurant so much. that’s so funny that you guys love it!!
*glad to hear someone else (especially a married couple) has the same issues with toilet-paper-buying-procrastination.
*bad news about the salmon - i had it all ready with my romaine lettuce and my individually sealed salmon filet. around lunchtime i started thinking about how i was going to get one of the cooks to season it and cook it on a cedar plank…when i realized i left the stupid thing IN MY CAR! all day long on a hot day. so i had subway for lunch instead. nice! (oh…and a no-sugar-added strawberry milkshake from maggie moo’s.)
*yes, i am going to the beach on saturday and coming back on tuesday. i will be staying 2 of those nights by myself. mainly b/c i want to get a feel for how it would be by myself if i moved down there and lived at the house. so we’ll see!
*no, i am not going to mat kearney. i didn’t even send a message for it, b/c i would have had to take off work 2 days in a row and i’d rather have the money in order to go the beach. so don’t be jealous!!
wow, this is long. hope you all have a lovely day!
i don’t have a particular topic to write about. so here are just a few things on my mind right now:
*we got new biodegradable paper straws at work. it’s great that we’re saving the planet, but i don’t like them. sorry.
*i made a boat-load of money at work tonight. i was astonished considering it was a tuesday. met a man from alabama who was asking if their was a ted’s there. oh yea there is.
*one of my friends is having a baby within the next two days. SIX of my friends have had babies since december (four of them are very close.) two more are pregnant and due in a few months. THAT’S NUTS! don’t drink the water.
*i need to go to target desperately. i’ve been completely out of toilet paper for 3 days. but don’t worry, i’ve been using my roommate’s…and kleenex. nice.
*i bought individually wrapped salmon filets and will take one with a salad to eat at work tomorrow.
*i want to go to the beach on saturday. we’ll see if it happens. i’m working doubles tomorrow and thursday, maybe friday…just in case.
*i am amazed at how patiently and consistently God listens to me. and i can certainly go on forever.
ok, that’s about it for now. if you are my friend, and you don’t have a blog…you SO need to start one.
have a great day!
so you might remember a week or so ago that i wrote about meeting that filmmaker. well, i was in a commercial that he shot the other day! pretty kewl. it was just for a local restaurant and we had to act like we were eating and drinking fake martinis. here’s a random story though. i had watched a trailer on his website and recognized the name of a girl on there thinking it might be my friend’s sister (for those who know — l.v.) anyway, i asked him about it. turns out she is his business partner, and he knows l.v.!! i was telling him about our trip to chicago for the marathon, and he knew about her hopping that shuttle bus and skipping about 12 miles. so i met her sister that night of the commercial. and have randomly seen her since then…crazy. it’s such a small world. she’s actually in a play this weekend…with her family coming up too. i think we’re going to go, so i’ll get to see l.v. i thought that was pretty nuts.
well it’s been almost exactly a week since the biggest loser contest began. yes, i have had lots of special k…but that diet they suggested has not really been working for me, eh? i did great until saturday night came along…i’m really trying not to feel guilty cause it’s not like it was horrible. i had a piece of cake and two of these chocolate things at a baby shower party. but then on monday i also had a strawberry waffle cone. here’s a picture of some of my fellow ‘biggest loser’ participants. we were strolling downtown and couldn’t resist mike’s ice cream:
at least we were in it together, and it was definitely a fun time! but then we went and ate at p.f. changs. ok…anyway…i haven’t weighed myself so i don’t know. i might weigh in the morning to see. i’ve been doing better by not picking at stuff at work (fries, onion rings, rolls, cookies, brownies, etc…) and i went to exercise today. i need movitation. PLEASE!! : ) and job NOT in a restaurant…geeezz…
ok, here’s another picture of us exploring downtown…

we are having a ‘biggest loser’ contest at work, and it officially started today. everyone puts in $5. whoever loses the greatest % of their body weight in 2 weeks wins the money. so far it’s up to over $70 and growing. the last day to sign up is friday. i’m determined to win. but there are guys involved, and guys can lose weight more easily than girls…from what i hear. we’ll just see about that though. i decided to go the special K route. i loaded up on bars and cereal. it even says on the box that you can lose 6 lbs in 2 weeks. disclaimer: i don’t normally support this kind of diet, b/c most of the time you just gain all the weight back. but this is what i’m hoping for: once i can fit into some of my springish clothes again, i will be a bit more motivated to not have 4 peanut butter milkshakes in one week. see what i mean? it’s so hard to get back on track when you’re so fed up with yourself. it’s like a never-ending cycle…aaaahh! i will keep you updated, b/c this is going to be successful. yes, very successful…
