so the day before yesterday something very unexpected happened….a ran 1/2 of a marathon!  what the heck!  with no training whatsoever, we set out planning to run 2-3 miles of the chicago marathon.  we sure had lofty goals when we got down to the start, b/c we were determined after the starting gun that we would complete the entire course.  after 11 miles or so, i knew that wasn’t going to happen.  we split and turned the other direction after about 1/2 and picked up a big mac at mcdonald’s on the way home.  it was nice.  one of the only times in my life that a big mac was fully justified.  i have hardly been able to walk for the last 2 days.  maybe tonight at work i will walk so much that my soreness will reverse…..yes, right…

a few months ago (yes, it’s been a while)…i was driving home from the beach, stopped to get gas and basically panicked b/c the gas tank cap cover wouldn’t open when i pushed the button in my car.  and i was alone.  eek!  finally, i maneuvered it with my keys (in the meantime scratching my car) and got it open.  didn’t really think it would happen again – i have no idea why.  but it’s actually becoming part of my life now, and that is sad.  it happened midway on i-65 around athens when my gas light was on.  a dude at the station had to help.  so i just started leaving it open.  then one of my friends tried to be nice and shut it for me.  another panic at the station.  got it open…then i shut it accidentally.  good gravy!  ok so the other day, i had to stop some guy and ask him for help.  he was like ‘dude, that would be horrible to have to get someone to help you everytime.’  yeah, yeah.  i want this repaired for free!  i don’t want to spend money on this!  it must be done soon, b/c everyone tells me my gas tank cap cover is open.

that’s what the weather channel calls it sometimes.  or chicken in the car has to go…..i think that’s it.  now i can’t remember.  but that’s supposed to help you recall the spelling if you are having problems with this.

anyway, i’m going there in 2 days!  oh what fun!  i’ve never been to the great windy city, so i have no idea what to expect.  our hotel is on the ‘magnificent mile.’  apparently, this is where all the cool shops are, so hopefully i will be able to shop.  we’ll see how much money i make at work tomorrow.  i am amazed that this is the 2nd major u.s. city for me to visit within 1 month.  last month was nyc.  and next month is boston.  whoop whoop.  ramblin fever….  and i make like waaaayy so much less this year than last year.  isn’t God grand?  i think so.  i’m going to go get my haircut in the morning just to celebrate.

I need help learning how to operate my new blog.  How in the world do I add people?

Anyway, I hope you are having a great day.  My night was good…I had to work and met a man from Montreal, Canada who was very nice and tipped quite well.  Sometimes I tend to stereotype foreign visitors and believe they won’t tip well.  So far Italians, Canadians and Asians have tipped welllll over 20%.  Isn’t that quite interesting?  I thought so.

I love blogs.  So I decided that I want one.  I love reading peoples’ thoughts…..randomness.  Blogs are totally random, and that is so much fun.  People read them if they want to.  It is never forced.  What a novel idea.  And I hope people join me, b/c I want to hear what’s going on with others.  So here is my bloggy blog.  Wooohoooo!!
